Meet Our Doctor
Dr. Albert A. Titus, MD, FACS
Dr. Albert A. Titus is a native of St. Croix and a graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Class of 1982. He was salutatorian of his class and a member of the National Honor Society. Dr. Titus attended the University of Miami on the Martin Marrietta Scholarship and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Mathematics. After completing his undergraduate studies, he worked in research and development for Baxter Laboratories for four years and was an instrumental team member in creating the test for the diagnosis of Hepatitis B.
After successfully completing that project, he went on to the University of Miami’s School of Medicine where he received his medical degree with research distinction. From there, Dr. Titus completed a five-year general surgery residency at the University of Florida and then finished additional training in pediatric surgery at Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Upon completing his training, Dr. Titus joined a group practice in surgery in Melbourne, Florida, and was appointed as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the University of Florida. He was, shortly thereafter, named Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Titus was then recruited to the city of Naples, Florida to start a much-needed pediatric surgery program at Naples Community Hospital where he single-handedly served the surgical needs of the city’s pediatric population for three years before moving back home to St. Croix in 2010. Upon arriving in St. Croix, he was immediately voted by his peers to become Interim Chief of the Emergency Department and Chief of Surgery at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center.

After serving as Chief of Surgery for 2 years, Dr. Titus decided to dedicate his complete attention to his very busy surgical practice. Dr. Titus is proud to be home in St. Croix caring for the people of this community. He is well-known for his minimally invasive approach to most surgical interventions, referred to as laparoscopic surgery. He is one of a small number of surgeons trained in Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS). He provides "Surgical Care with Compassion" and is sensitive to the unique needs of our population. Dr. Titus is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery.
